Types of Tools You Will Need To Change A Jeep Tire

Jeep Wranglers come with all the tools you need to change a tire, but if you lost them or bought a used Jeep, you need to get a set of tools.

The exact list of tools for changing your Jeep’s tire:

  • A jack– Used to lift the Jeep off the ground so you can remove the tire.
  • A lug wrench– is used to loosen the lugs from the hubcap so the wheel can be removed.
  • A spare tire– This is what you will replace the flat tire with.

Step-By-Step Instructions on How To Change A Jeep Tire

Action 1- Jack up the Jeep

Check your Jeep’s owner’s handbook to find the appropriate positioning of the jack under your Jeep. Make sure the Jeep remains in park, and the emergency brake is pulled.

Put the jack in the proper spot on the axle and start to turn the jack’s rotatable handle counterclockwise till the flat tire is lifted off the ground.

Action 2-  Remove the Lug Nuts

Get the lug wrench and use it to loosen all of the lug nuts from the hubcap. Put the lug nuts in a safe place and remove the wheel while being careful not to damage the studs. If you bend the studs you won’t be able to mount the new tire.

Action 3- Get The Spare Tire

Make use of the lug wrench to remove the spare tire off of the back of the Jeep. Pull the spare tire straight out and away from the Jeep. Don’t bend the studs!

Step 4- Replace The Old Tire With The New Tire

Place the spare tire on the Jeep in place of the flat one. Make use of the lug wrench to tighten down the lug nuts, lower the Jeep using the jack, and put your tools back where they go.

Now you can continue your off-road adventure.
